Our mission
Our goal is simple: to help our community heal.
Our mission is to provide evidence-based resources and support for children, families, educators, medical professionals, first responders, and the wider Bend community. We are working to connect those impacted with qualified mental health professionals and ensure that individuals and families have access to the information and care they need.
We are currently developing community outreach efforts, including educational presentations, support groups, consultation opportunities, and a directory of qualified mental health providers.
Please check back regularly as we continue to expand our resources and services.
Who is affected
We know that the impact of a traumatic event like this extends well beyond those who were directly involved. Students, parents, educators, healthcare providers, first responders, and community members may experience fear, grief, anger, difficulty concentrating, sleep disruption, anxiety, or other reactions to trauma. Children and adolescents may be particularly affected, even when they were not directly present.
Local psychologists
The Bend Resilience Project is being developed as a local, psychologist-led effort to provide evidence-based mental health intervention, education, and resources to children, families, schools, healthcare providers, and others in our community.
We are reaching out to local organizations because we believe the strongest response to a community tragedy is a connected one. We want to work alongside the people and organizations who already know and serve our community.
A connected response
We also recognize that there is no single response that will meet everyone’s needs. Some individuals will need immediate clinical support, while others may benefit most from information, connection, reassurance, or simply knowing that their reactions are understandable.
Our hope is to create a coordinated local network so that people do not have to navigate these resources alone. We are committed to making sure that these resources are accessible to all.
